Malta and Water

Tickets at: ticketengine.faa.org.mt

One thousand years of water management and landscape development.

One expert. Dr. Keith Buhagiar.

What’s up with the water? Join FAA and relax after these crazy elections by taking a trip back in time. See how Malta has changed over the past millennium – handcrafted for the sake of civilisation – it’s all about water as the Summer heat kicks in.

Malta was modified to accommodate civilisation – terraced fields being the foremost example. We will be seeing the influence of Muslim and Roman qanat technology on Malta and consider how Malta has been changed over the millennium from 900 AD. Caves, cisterns, irrigation and more.

This lecture will be followed by a visit to the Valletta underground cisterns, beneath the Archbishop’s Palace.
