12nd November 2016 Visit to Clapham Junction – An approximately two hour guided tour of Clapham Junction, the largest, most well known and most important of the existing cart-rut sites in Malta.

Gordon will be pointing out particular features, judged to be informative when it comes to attempting to answer the many questions surrounding the Maltese cart-rut phenomenon: questions such as, are the ‘ruts’ actually cart-ruts, how did they come to form in the bedrock, when did they first begin to form and what is their cultural significance.

We will also be looking out for examples of local flora that might be seen during the tour.

The tour shall be followed by light refreshments.

Price for this tour is €15 (or €30 for all three dates)

19th November 2016 – Visit to Għar il-Kbir (The Great Cave)

We will be examining the physical aspects of this cave, arguably one of the most important archaeological and historical sites in Malta.  Strong circumstantial evidence indicates that the cave was used for ritual activities in early historical pre-Christian times. We will also be looking at the nearby Punic shaft-and-chamber tombs.
The tour shall be followed by light refreshments.
